How do I obtain keys to the property?
You must advise us of your arrival time so that our property manager can meet you with the key.
Is the beach close to the property?
It takes three minutes by foot to reach Bucerias playa from the villa. The playa comprises one stretch of a 68-kilometre coastline arc of the Bay of Banderas and views in both directions are spectacular. As an alternative, the popular surfing beach of Sayulita is 20 minutes north of Bucerias.
Does it take long to get to Puerto Vallarta?
Travelling by car/taxi, you can reach downtown Puerto Vallarta in 25 minutes. The bus takes slightly longer (35-40 minutes).
Are there any supermarkets nearby?
The Mega shopping centre is 20 minutes away by bus and has everything you will ever need, including the kitchen sink (or maybe not quite). Think Wal-Mart or Costco and you'll have an idea of what the Mega is all about. Getting there by bus will cost around 6 pesos (60 cents), or go by taxi for approx. 80 pesos ($8).
Are there smaller grocery stores nearby?
Just two blocks from the villa is an extremely convenient corner store, where you can pick up eggs, milk, ice, chips, beer...all the necessities.
Are there fun activities in the surrounding area?
There are a multitude of options, depending on your preferences: zip-lining, surfing, ATVing, swimming with dolphins, snorkel/scuba trips, horseback riding, parasailing, banana boats, whale-watching, crocodile safari...we recommend visiting Gecko Rent-a-Car, who also arrange and book excursions/trips, for a full range of events and activities to participate in (ask for Adam).
Restaurants, pubs and clubs
There's a wide selection of eating and drinking establishments within striking distance of the villa, whether you're looking for a quick bite, a casual drink or a more dressed-up evening event. Yo Yo Mo's Sports Bar and the Shamrock Irish Pub have great pub fare (cheap fish and chips in the Shamrock on Fridays) and pool tables/games, while the Breakers features live music every day. Other notable pub-atmosphere places include the Drunken Duck, the Luna Lounge and El Chaveros (the latter has tables under palapas on the beach).
Is the water potable?
The tap water in the casa is fine for cooking and bathing, but we recommend bottled water for drinking. A van drives right past the casa front gates every other day selling large containers of bottled water—18 pesos ($1.80) will get you a large jug that should last several days.
Are there any markets in the area?
Bucerias has a lively tourist market with dozens of stalls open every day, adjacent to the village square. On the other side of the highway, there is also a locals market open every Sunday, which gives a great opportunity both to pick up and bits and bobs you might be needing and glean some insight into the local lifestyles and culture.
